Our neighbourhood, Old Kent Road, London, is rich in British history and culture. It is located between zones 1 and 2 in the Southwark & Lewisham, twenty minutes walk from the historic Tower Bridge.
Southwark is a multi-cultural area, full of quirky cafés and bars where you can enjoy fresh soup, salads, pastries, homemade cakes, sandwiches and locally made coffee. The neighbourhood is also full of little shops and a modern shopping centre is due to be completed soon.
Our neighbourhood is filled with places to go, from museums, to galleries to parks. So here are just a few of them:
One of the biggest parks in South London with lots of grass, a lake and a beautiful cafe. What’s more, it has sports facilities such as tennis courts, football court. Also, you can play rugby and even take cricket lessons over the summer period.
East Street Library
A friendly local library just around the corner. The library offers a nice place to relax, make friends and read.
Imperial War Museum
This huge building has got tons of exhibitions and machinery from the First & Second World War to right up to today. While it’s a serious kind of museum, there are lots of fun things to see there. Moreover, The Imperial War Museum is free to enter.
Finally, there are loads of famous landmarks in the neighbourhood. For instance, the Shard, London Bridge, Borough Market, and Tate Modern. What’s more, these are all about 20 minutes walk from the school.
