The LVC Terms and Conditions page – isn’t this the bit everyone has been waiting for?
Before you start your course with us, we will need a few things. These include your application form and your course fees. Also, we will need a copy of your passport, visa or ID card.
To study with us you need to be 16 years old or over. At least that is, in a group of adults. At the same time, we do have courses for younger learners, and we will talk about this below.
We need your phone number and address in the UK. Plus, we need the name and details of a family member or friend we can contact in an emergency. If you change your address or number, you must tell us as soon as possible.
What do the course fees include?
Your fees include your registration letter, your course, materials and handouts and your mid-course and end-of-course reports. However, your course fees don’t include accommodation, travel costs and transport, insurance, food and other living expenses.
How do I pay for my course?
You can pay via bank transfer. Here are the details:
Liral Veget College London Limited
BARCLAYS BANK PLC
Sort code: 20-26-20
Account number: 43923053
IBAN: GB59 BARC 2026 2043 9230 53
Sadly, we can’t transfer or refund Airport Transfer charges. The various airports break down like this: Gatwick: £180 (£95 one-way); Heathrow: £180 (£95 one-way); Luton: £190 ( £100 one-way); St. Pancras Eurostar: £130 (65 one-way).
We are able to wait for you for 60 minutes. After that, we have to add an extra £15 per hour. ’Fraid so!
If you are going to arrive late, you must let us know. Also, if arrival details are incorrect for any reason, we cannot issue a refund. Sorry!
We use textbooks for all of our courses. You will have to buy the current book for your course, even if you are only studying with us for one month. We sell copies in the reception which cost £30. Alternatively, you might find a bargain online. Ebay and Amazon often have good deals. Personally, we like Foyles bookshop, which is in Charing Cross Road. It’s great!
If you finish the course and feel that you would like to return your book, this is an option. In that case, please only write in it in pencil. When the book is in good condition, we can give you a £20 refund, or £15 if your course is longer than four weeks in total.
Because of copyright laws, we can’t make photocopies of the book for you.
LVC Terms and Conditions – Our General Rules and Regulations
We want everyone at LVC to have fun and to learn a lot and to go away with happy memories of our school. The best way for this to for everyone to be as nice as possible, as often as possible. Generally speaking, this is what happens. 99% of our students are lovely, friendly people, and we are sure that you belong to the 99% too! However, it is a good idea to be clear about the rules and the things we expect. So here we go:
Please turn off your mobile phone in the lesson. If you use your phone in the lesson, your teacher might feel sad, and ask you to leave the classroom.
Please be nice to everyone. Don’t be rude to your teacher, your classmate or yourself. We don’t allow rude or aggressive behaviour and we try hard to make sure everyone in class is happy. Please help us by doing the same! In the end, it’s better for everyone.
Our teachers have fire safety training. There probably won’t ever be a fire, but we do have fire drills just to be safe. We expect you to take drills seriously and follow the instructions at the time.
In the rare cases that any student fails to comply with our rules, behaves rudely or aggressively to anybody else at LVC, we reserve the right to terminate their course without a refund. Sorry about that!
LVC Terms and Conditions for Attendance
Everyone learns best in a friendly, supportive and relaxed environment, and part of that includes being on time. Please arrive to your lesson on time.
If you arrive later than the start date of your course, we cannot extend your course without a legitimate reason. For example, a medical emergency or family crisis are legitimate reasons, but we will need some written proof, especially from a doctor. In certain cases, we might feel it necessary to terminate your enrolment. But we probably won’t. Finally, if you are absent many times without legitimate cause or and explanation, we will not extend your course.
Please read carefully our policy on attendance and absence.
If you feel you are in the wrong class, if the level is too high or too low, we will try to help. First, talk to your teacher. Your teacher has years of experience and will be able to give some useful advice. If you really need to change, our Academic Manager will do everything possible to help you.
LVC Terms and Conditions for Student Holidays
Holiday are great, and you might be about to take one. Please tell the reception one week in advance that you plan to go on holiday and we will try to help you. Without telling us, your absence will be marked as an absence, and you will lose your hours.
LVC closes on bank holidays, which are Britain’s term for public holidays. Also, we close for two weeks over the Christmas period, so that everyone can relax and eat mince pies.
Classes and opening times
LVC is normally open from Monday to Saturday each week but closed on bank holidays.
Classes start on Monday, or Tuesday if is it’s a bank holiday.
Before you start you class, we will give you an entry test. This helps us to put you in the right level on the right course.
Our maximum class size is 16 people.
If we have to cancel a class for any reason, we will give you some different options. For example, we will offer you another class at the same level but on a different day or time. Or we might offer you a one day extension for each class you missed.
Sometimes we have to change the teacher, and this is not something we can avoid. We don’t do it often, but it happens.
Yes, exams are not nice. However, they are useful and they us show us what you are good at where you need to improve. They are also a record of your progress and success. We will give you a mid-course exam and an end-of-course exam. It’s like being a school, isn’t it?
If you take an external exam such as the IELTS, we can help you find a booking centre. But costs and booking tests are things which we must leave to you.
Cancellations/Refunds for non-visa and visitor-visa students
The Registration/Admin fee is non-refundable.
If you give the College written notice of the termination of your enrolment on the course before the start of the course, your fees will be refunded, subject to a £100 administration charge, including the registration fee.
Written notice must be enclosed with the evidence of the reason of course termination.
Once the course is started, your fees will not be refunded under any circumstances.
Unless otherwise stated in these Terms and Conditions, if you do not attend any of the classes on your course, you will not be entitled to any refund.
We will not refund your fees if your visa is denied or terminated due to one or more of the following reasons
- Inadequate attendance on the course (or any other courses previously attended at other colleges or schools) or your failure to complete the course;
- working without a valid work permit;
- having provided incorrect and/or misleading information to the Academy (including on the Enrolment Form) or to the immigration or any other relevant authorities. This also includes if the level stated in your certificate through which you have been accepted for your studies is not your actual level;
- not having necessary funds in your accounts to satisfy Home Office requirements.
And there’s more!
If you are denied a student visa but granted another kind of visa, whether to enter or remain in the United Kingdom, no refund will be given.
If your visa is denied for reasons other than the visa section, your fees will be refunded, calculated from the date your visa was denied, subject to
- the College retaining £200 or 20% of the fees for your course, whichever is the greater plus the registration fee;
- you providing the LVC with a copy of the visa refusal letter issued by the British Embassy or a copy of your passport with the entry refusal stamp within 10 working days after it has been issued
Once agreed by the College, refunds will be made in no longer than 1 calendar month, unless otherwise stated. Refunds can only be made by cheque payable to, or by credit transfer to the account/card of, the person who paid the fees (as per the Enrolment Form) and in no circumstances will be made in cash. We will not make any refunds to any other person.
Refunds will not be made for failure to complete or attend a course (including if the course has ended before you attend).
Fees will not be refunded for a course, which has already started, unless other arrangements have been made with the College.
End of course report/certificate
LVC will only issue you a leaving report/certificate, but we need to feel that you made significant academic progress during your time with us. While your course report is free, we charge £30 for a certificate, signed by the LVC Principal. She has a really nice signature.
We use photographs on social media and our website. Sometimes we might take photographs of you and your classmates having fun in your lesson, or on a school trip. We will always ask for your written permission before we do this!
We don’t offer parking space. Driving is bad for the planet, so walk, take the bus or cycle here. But you must remember you bike lock and secure your bike outside the school. Don’t worry – this is a safe area!
We can’t take personal calls or message for you at LVC. If your life is this kind of busy, consider hiring a PA!
We will never give your details away to a third party without your written consent.
Warranties and Limitations of Liability
We warrant that we will provide our services to you using all reasonable care and skill.
Except in the case of death or personal injury caused by our negligence and to the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable to you by reason of any representation or any implied warranty or condition or any duty at common law or for any consequential loss or damage which relate to your enrolment on a course at LVC.
To the extent permitted by law, the aggregate of our liability in respect of any claim brought by you against us will in no circumstances be greater than the fees you have paid.
We will not be liable to you by reason of any delay in performing, or any failure to perform, any of our obligations to you, if the delay or failure was due to any cause beyond our reasonable control, including the default of any other person, firm or company engaged by us or any acts of God, strikes, lockouts, fire and flood.
LVC Terms and Conditions for Data Protection
In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, you consent to LVC holding and processing in any form and transferring to any immigration or other relevant authorities the data it collects which relates to you during your enrolment on the course (including sensitive personal data), for the purposes of our administration and management of our business and for compliance with applicable procedures, laws and regulations.
Assignments and Waiver
You are not entitled to transfer, assign or sub-contract your rights and obligations under these Terms and Conditions to anybody else.
LVC Terms and Conditions for Safeguarding
We take your safety and wellbeing very seriously. Students who are 16 years old may be in a group with adults, but younger students can work in groups together.
We organise many social activities and trips, and so if you are 16 years old or younger, you will have very close supervision. Our safeguarding policies make sure that there is always enough adult supervision both in the school and outside.
And that’s it! Like an epic poem or a film by David Lean, the LVC Terms and Conditions are over. Congratulations. You made it!
