London Christmas Markets
Over the festive season, Christmas markets make the city special for everyone, young and old.
Let’s start with the most famous: Winter Wonderland. For over 10 years, Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland has been spreading the Christmas spirit throughout London. Whether you are in the company of your children or just want to spend a different evening with your friends, this is a must do at this time of the year. You will have not only the opportunity to buy special items and souvenirs for your loved ones, but you can decide to take it easy, strolling through while sipping an excellent mulled wine, maybe have a beer at the Bavarian Village or bring your little ones to meet Santa Claus in his residence temporarily carried here. You will find more than hundred attractions in the park including the open-air ice rink, which is one of the biggest in London. Remember, it’s free to enter the Winter Wonderland grounds and take in the joyous atmosphere. Why miss it?
If you are a romantic soul, why not go for a walk on the riverside? Especially during this time of the year, South Bank’s beautiful riverside really cannot be missed. It might be chilly, but the Christmas lights and Southbank Centre’s Winter Market with its traditional wooden chalets create an amazing festive atmosphere. If you are hunting for Christmas presents, here you can find handmade gifts, festive products or delicious seasonal treats: traditional mince pies, tasty German sausages, chocolates or pastries.
This walk along the river will literally take your breath away!
If you want to move from the city centre, this year there’s a new Christmas experience in town! Greenwich Winter Time Festival set in the stunning grounds of the 17th century architecture of the Old Royal Naval College. The Greenwich Winter Time Festival is a new Christmas festival with a magical atmosphere, bringing together the contemporary and the traditional, in a unique experience. From the contemporary market stalls, you can get anything you need for your Christmas shopping, like fun artwork, original fashion gifts as well as traditional food and drinks. Remember the tickets also include spectacular world champions’ ice skating performances and many shows including live music, theatre, children shows or DJs music.
Well, what to say more: London offers a huge choice of markets during Christmas time. Which one is your favourite?
