5 Reasons to Love London
People can say what they want but London remains an incredible city to live or have a life experience. So, we have decided to list 5 reasons that make London one of the most incredible destinations on the planet.
- You will never feel different
Whether you are Italian, French, Brazilian, Turkish or Polish, one thing is for sure, you will always run into someone speaking the same language as you.
Over 250 languages are spoken in London, making the capital the most linguistically diverse city in the world. At the 2011 census, 36.7% of London’s population was foreign born. With 3,082,000 residents born abroad in 2014 London has the largest population number of foreign-born.
- It is very easy to make friends
Do you know that co-worker that you would like to hang out sometime but you’re too shy to invite for an after work happy hour because you’re not close enough to that person? In London this is not a problem. Many foreign people are starting a new life and they come to live in the City without family or friends, so often they’re open to meet people and make new friends. Besides these people come with a tremendous desire to walk around and get to know new places.
- London is a big and lively city
An infinity of attractions are available and many of them are for free. Several wonderful and graceful museums: Victoria and Albert, Natural History Museum, British Museum, Tate Modern, Tate Britain, War museum, among others.
In case you’re not a big fan of museums, parks are great options. You can enjoy a picnic in Hyde Park or cycle in Regent’s Park. In addition to several Outdoor Markets, there are lots of events happening every week, Meet-Ups, night clubs and of course, the traditional English pubs.
- Job offers
Another advantage of London is the ease of getting jobs. If you speak fluent English, depending on your area you can get a well-paid job. If your English is not that fluent but you have some knowledge of the language, there are several restaurants, pubs, shops and hotels that have a high turnover rate where you can always find an opportunity.
- Efficient transportation
Public transport is fast, efficient and well distributed around the city, whether you commute using the underground, bus, train or overground. You do not have to live in the city centre to have many links for public transport. Apps like Google Maps or CityMappercan give you a hand showing the best route, best transport to get, tickets prices and how long your bus will take to arrive. There are no excuses for not being punctual like the Brits.
